ONE-ROCK DAM
This dam is designed to slow down the flow of water but not completely stop it from flowing. These dams generally aren’t very tall and go across the width of the river. This dam will be l be 1 to 2 feet high. The picture below is an example of one I built. To build this use rocks and place them tightly together to reduce the flow of water. The rocks should be at relatively the same level and the dam should extend up the banks of the river some to prevent the water from going around.

ZUNI BOWL
The Zuni bowl dam is a rock formation that is designed to prevent erosion to the river bed from the water dropping off and creating a hole. This is made by creating a partially circular wall out of rock where the drop-off is and then putting a layer of rocks on the bottom where the water will be falling. It is most effective if a small one-rock dam is built below to slow the flow of the water. Below is an example of the one I created.

ROCK RUNDOWN
This structure is built in locations where water runs down and erodes the dirt underneath. This structure is used to prevent the ground from washing away with the river. To create these you lay down a layer of rocks in the areas where the ground is eroding and then the water will flow over the top of these rocks and not wash away the soil. Above is an example of what I built.
